Brice Ventrice: “In Colomiers I am part of the furniture”

the essential
While playing his 12th season with the Colomiers colors, the 33-year-old midfielder approaches this 7th round of the Coupe de France, in Agde, in peace.

How do you judge the start of the season at Colomiers?

From the point of view of the accounts it is below the objectives set at the beginning of the season (6 points in 5 championship days, ed), but there have been many changes in the low season, the group is still in the formation phase. The Coupe de France has allowed us to gain confidence and is starting to show itself in our results.

Have you also won the last three games without conceding a goal, proof of a newfound defensive solidity?

It has been our strength for the long seasons in the national team 2. This progress is the result of the work of all the players, not just the defenders. It is enough to see the defensive efforts made by our forwards in the last few games to realize this. We are on the right track.

Do you feel the excitement as this great meeting in Agde approaches?

Very sincerely, we are approaching like any other game, this is our philosophy. Personally, I find the Coupe de France and the championship to be closely linked. Furthermore, we do not feel particular emotions because we are playing this match outdoors, away from our audience.

What do you know about your opponent?

Like all the National 3s this season, we will find out, especially since we haven’t played them in the league yet. There will therefore be no difference in level, but this means absolutely nothing in this competition. When I was younger I didn’t understand how teams could be eliminated by the opponents of the lower leagues, but over time I understood. The Coupe de France levels the disparities. We saw it in particular against Beaumont-de-Lomagne (3-1) and Levezou (1-0), opponents who played in the District but who still caused us many problems.

With Kévin Léoni (9 seasons), you are the latest club history. Do you have a particular role in the locker room?

It is true that I am part of the furniture (laughs). I have been in the club for 12 years and for me it is a source of great pride. I feel respect from my teammates and trust from the staff and management. For the whole club and for our fans, we will do everything to be in the next round.
