The size is twice that of The Shard, a London skyscraper which is the tallest building in England at 310 meters high.
The size of the asteroid is almost equal to the tallest skyscraper in the world, the Burj Khalifa with a height of 828 meters.
According to NASA, as quoted by the scientific news site, LiveScience.com, the asteroid will move past the Earth at a speed of approximately 84,500 kilometers per hour.
It will pass the Earth at a distance of about 2.3 million kilometers, so the risk of a collision with the Earth is very small.
Director of the Institute of Space Technology and Industry, Professor Alan Duffy appealed to the public not to see the phenomenon of asteroids entering the Earth’s atmosphere.
“I would say the best advice is not to witness incidents like this. Many injuries have been reported in Chelyabinsk (meteorite accident in Russia in 2013)”
“People see a fireball burning in the sky before it erupts and emits the same brightness as the sun. This causes damage to the retinas of people who can’t see well,” he said.
