The Frankfurt water police station was informed on Wednesday (26) by the Offenbach lock (Main-KM 38.4) of the oil pollution in the north chamber of the lock.

The criminal investigation into water pollution revealed at around 6:15 pm that the culprit could be a pleasure boat. However, there was no corresponding information in the boat itself. Only when the engine was started did oil come out with the cooling water, which by now had already slightly contaminated about ten square meters of mains water.

To prevent further risks to the environment, a specialist company repaired the engine on Thursday (27).
