Since 2017, the Augsburg District Municipal Youth Work has organized a consultation for children and young people with district administrator Martin Sailer at regular intervals. Twice a year, the young residents of the district have the opportunity to exchange questions, wishes and suggestions. At the last consultation on 13 October, a total of 13 children, adolescents and young adults were able to voice their concerns. Among other things, many traffic and infrastructure issues were discussed, such as road safety for cyclists, improving bus connections or introducing a student ticket into public transport. In addition, school vandalism and the district administrator’s ability to act in this case were discussed, as well as the condition of playgrounds and the opening of an indoor swimming pool to the public. Several students of the ninth and tenth year of the Königsbrunn secondary school raised the question of the influence of a district administrator on the implementation of planning and construction projects in the district and linked it in particular to the tram line, the new construction of the school upper middle and the former spa building. “I take the concerns raised by children and young people very seriously. All the suggestions show me how many ideas serve the common good, especially the young residents of the district, ”says District Administrator Martin Sailer.
