A 70-year-old man from Ummeln was the victim of the so-called messenger scam. The authors sent him a message on his mobile on Wednesday (10/26/22) and pretended to be his daughter, who has a new phone number. The alleged daughter asked for money for a new laptop, and the 70-year-old arranged for an immediate transfer.
Police warn: Talk to your older family members about this scam. Does not make transfers. And always ask the person who allegedly contacted you on the old number.
