– I don’t think Sir Alex would react like Ten Hag

Thursday evening was the expected comeback in the team also for Cristiano Ronaldo.

It was also a good goal, after a match in which he never stopped trying.

In the BT Sports studio, Paul Scholes was the expert, Scholes himself refused to play for United in a League Cup match in 2001.

He thus expressed his opinion on the Ronaldo case, which has characterized the world of football for a week now.

– It’s hard to explain what happened to me. It was a low point, and it went wrong. However, I can sympathize with Ronaldo, even if what he did was wrong.

– My situation was that on Sunday we played against Liverpool and the next day there was a League Cup match. It was more like a reserve team game. I was angry that I was eliminated against Liverpool. We went down 2-0 and I was expecting to go in, but it didn’t happen. I didn’t come after class either. Then it got worse. It stuck in my head.

– Then watch United’s game against Tottenham. The team played well but lost many chances. Then he probably thought: I could score three or four goals here, easily and the longer the games get, the more angry he gets for not being able to play. Then you don’t even think about it.

– When he was then asked to enter just before the end, he must have thought “Are you kidding me?”. The manager should show some common sense.

– I have heard many say that Sir Alex would click if that happened below him, but I don’t think so. It was a winning game, they were comfortable, then he would have sent one of the young men out instead. I think he was disrespectful towards Cristiano, even if the coach has every right to do what he did.

Speaking of which, Scholes entered the field for the final quarter of the aforementioned Liverpool match, before refusing to play against Arsenal the next day.
