Today, Thursday, the Baden Winegrowers’ Association honors the most successful cellarmen and managers of the Baden wine region with the Baden Wine and Regional Sparkling Wine Awards.

The awards ceremony took place in the style of a rooftop garden party over the rooftops of Offenburg at Bar Schoellmanns. In addition to the award-winning winegrowers, the presidency of the Baden Winegrowers’ Association and the Baden Wine Sovereigns, the Head of the Viticulture Department of the Ministry of Food, Rural Areas and Consumer Protection, Dr. The celebration was attended by Norbert-Jakob Ferch and other representatives of the state wine administration. Dr. Ferch brought best regards and congratulations from Minister Peter Hauk and in the course of the evening presented the Baden-Württemberg state awards to three Baden-Württemberg companies that achieved the best overall results in a three-year period ” . These three companies are symbolic for the whole quality effort of the Baden wineries, which produce the best wines as a message of pleasure even in sometimes difficult growing conditions, “Ferch said with appreciation.

Viticulture president Rainer Zeller also spoke about the high quality standards and skills of the master cellarmen in his opening speech. “The honorary awards are well-deserved awards for the commitment the companies have shown throughout the year. They also impressively prove that our winegrowers are capable of producing the highest quality even in difficult years like 2021, “says Zeller.

The President presented impressive figures for the 2022 award. A total of 1,471 wines and 73 sparkling wines were presented and tasted neutrally on 40 dates. 94 wineries from all nine Baden wine regions took part in the award. The wine queen of Baden Jessica Himmelsbach, together with the CEO of the Winegrowers’ Association, Holger Klein, and the two wine princesses of Baden, Geraldine Liebs and Lisa Huber, presented the awards of honor. As a highlight of the evening, Holger Klein presented the Honorary Award of the Winegrowers’ Association to Thomas Männle of Schwarzwaldweingut Männle in Durbach. Since he has received this award from the winemakers’ association for the third consecutive time, he is allowed to keep the artistically designed trophy in his business. Typically, the prize is passed on to the next winner each year. The cellarman of the Männle winery, Christian Idelhauser, was awarded the gold pin as the best cellarman of the year.

After the award ceremony, the winners’ wines were toasted in a relaxed atmosphere.

Winzerverein Hagnau eG (Lake Constance), Weingut W&A Löffler, Staufen-Wettelbrunn (Markgräflerland), Weingut Hercher, Freiburg-Waltershofen (Tuniberg), Burkheimer Winzer am Kaiserstuhl eG (Kaiserstuhl), Roter Bur Glottertäler Winzer (Brisgovia) , Rauenberg (Kraichgau), Jörg Claauer winery, Heidelberg (Badische Bergstraße), Becksteiner Winzer eG, Lauda-Königshofen (Tauberfranken).

Black Forest winery Andreas Männle from Durbach (Ortenau) was again awarded the Best Baden Business 2022.

This year the prizes in the size classes of the company go to the Andreas Laible and Schwörer wineries in Durbach (both in group I – up to 19.9 ha), the Winzergenossenschaft eG Schriesheim (group II up to 49.9 ha), the Sasbacher Winzerkeller eG (Group III – 50 ha – 149.9 ha), Alde Gott Winzer Schwarzwald eG, Sasbachwalden (Group IV – 150 ha to 299.9 ha) and Oberkircher Winzergenossenschaft eG (Group V – 300 ha). The Burkheimer Winzer am Kaiserstuhl eG can be pleased with the Sektehrenpreis.

Three companies awarded state awards:
The Siegbert Bimmerle winery from Renchen-Erlach (business class I up to 9.9 ha), the W&A Löffler winery from Staufen-Wettelbrunn (business class II 10 to 149.9 ha) and the managing director Christian Gehring of the Gengenbach-Offenburg winery have been authorized to receive the 2022 eG state awards in size class 3 (over 150 ha) by the Head of the Viticulture Department at the Ministry of Food, Rural Areas and Consumer Protection, Dr. Norbert Ferch, accepts.

The award for the TOP 10 companies and the prize of the wine brotherhood were also presented this evening.
