Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – The woman said to have set fire to the entrance area of the Freiburg district court has been in custody since Thursday. Investigators accuse the 41-year-old of attempting serious arson, according to a spokesman for the prosecutor’s office.
The suspect is said to have poured gasoline at the gate and set it on fire on Wednesday. Two employees of the judiciary were injured by heavy smoking and another employee suffered a shock. At least one injured was taken to hospital. The firefighters managed to quickly extinguish the fire and thus prevent major damage. But there was soot and smoke damage. Hours after the crime, the woman went to a lawyer at a police station in Freiburg.
The 41-year-old’s motive remained unclear. The prosecutor’s spokesperson said the woman was involved in a family court case that is currently pending in the district court. She couldn’t give any further details.
