The community of Sant’Egidio has announced that 66 refugees will arrive in Italy on 26 and 28 October. 37 of them arrived at Fiumicino airport in Rome on the morning of 26 October. 13 of these refugees from Beirut, Lebanon, are minors. The community of Sant Egidio also announced that the remaining 29 people will arrive on Friday. These refugees come from different parts of Syria. This company, which prioritizes humanitarian activities, said they will be provided with accommodation in different regions of Italy. The community of Sant’Egidio, the Union of Evangelical Churches in Italy, the Diakonia and Tavola Valdese movements will this time welcome 66 refugees.

From 2016 to today, 2,300 people from Lebanon alone have arrived in Italy as refugees. More than 7,000 refugees have arrived in Europe through humanitarian corridors in recent years. Due to the current economic and social crisis, the refugee situation in Lebanon is not easy, according to NGOs.
