The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council participated in the activities of the exhibition “Agra Middle East”, Dubai 2022, at the Dubai World Trade Center, with the slogan “Achieving a Food-Safe Tomorrow”.
Eng. Abdullah Al-Maaini, Executive Director of the Central Examination Laboratory Sector in the Council, said that the participation aims to present the Council’s support services in the various fields of experimentation through the Agriculture Laboratory, which is part of the laboratories of the Sector Council Central Examination Laboratory.
“The agricultural inspection services provided by the council contribute to achieving food security and improving biosecurity and sustainability in the agricultural sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi,” he added.
He stressed the council’s intention to provide environmental testing and water testing services of all kinds, such as potable water, irrigation water, well water and treated water, in order to expand its current services to cover a wider scope. comprehensive in examinations of agricultural products and crops, and radiological examinations which are unique to the emirate.
Al-Muaini explained that the central laboratory, during its participation in the exhibition, provided various examination services, review of the agricultural analyzes provided, represented in the quality analyzes of the various types of fertilizers, soil analyzes and water analyzes used. for agricultural purposes, and analysis of plants according to the specifications and standards approved in the country, the importance of which lies in helping the authorities concerned with decision-making and development in the agricultural field. Using advanced equipment and with high precision.
Meanwhile, Dr Maryam Al Shamsi, Director of the Al Ain Department of Life Sciences, indicated that the tests provided by the Agriculture Laboratory, such as quality controls of all types of fertilizers, help to assess quality. of fertilizers according to local standards and include the analysis of electrical conductivity, pH, humidity, protein and carbon, nitrogen, organic matter, percentage of sodium chloride, detection of heavy metals.
The soil analyzes provided by the agricultural laboratory also identify and evaluate the type of agricultural soil, examining the elements available in the soil, cations, ions, pH, calcium carbonate, mechanical analyzes and heavy metals in the soil. As for the microbiological analyzes, they include the analysis of Pseudomonas bacteria, pathogenic nematodes and fungi.
