Why can sexual intercourse at an early age trigger cervical cancer?
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Doctor Nadia Ayu Mulansari SpPD-KHOM warned of the dangers of having sexual intercourse at the age of under 20. She said she can trigger cervical cancer, especially cervical cancer.
“The most common cause of HPV infection is having sex under the age of 20 or having sex at an early age,” said Dr Nadia.
Dr. Nadia explains the main risk factors they cause cervical cancer it is an infection human papilloma virus (HPV). HPV can be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact in the genital area.
In order to avoid cervical cancer, Dr. Nadia suggests avoiding HPV infection. The trick is not to do things that can cause HPV infection.
The risk of cervical cancer increases with prolonged and early exposure to the epithelium or cell lining of the very young uterus. Additionally, having sex with multiple partners also increases the risk of getting HPV infection.
“HPV exposure is different as each person can increase the risk of cervical cancer,” he said.
Exposure to many intimate partners is one of the risks of repeated HPV infections and, ultimately, cervical cancer. Transmission HPV virus this is not only through regular sexual intercourse, but also through oral intercourse.
“This has to be avoided,” said Dr. Nadia.
On the other hand, Dr. Nadia revealed that the HPV virus cannot be transmitted through swimming pools or public baths. Because, once out of the host, the virus will die.
