From fashion to Hollywood the rapper Kanye West is on the ropes: following the example of Gap and Balenciagathe German colossus Adidas sportswear broke ties with ex-husband of Kim Kardashian while it was the Caa talent agency that distanced itself: “Hate speech is never good,” Kardashian said.
“He is no longer their client”, said a source of the agency, citing the recent anti-Semitic tirade of the singer, stylist and entrepreneur who until recently was on the crest of the wave.
From stars to dust: considered one of the most influential hip hop artists of our time – 24 Grammys and 160 million records sold – Kanye destroyed himself in the span of a few years while the attention of the media was concentrated, rather than on his creative talent, on controversial statements in politics (friend of Donald Trump and of far-right commentators such as Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens) and mental problems: he suffers of bipolar disorder.

Divorce from the Kardashian clan (Kim and the large family of which he had once been one of the excellent K’s) had accelerated the downward trend. Adidas had put Kanye (who now calls himself Ye) on trial at the beginning of October: Twitter, Facebook and Instagram had done the same, inducing the rapper to throw himself into the purchase of Parler, the social ‘refuge’ of extremist fringes because it does not curb freedom of speech. “Ye’s recent statements and actions are unacceptable, hateful and dangerous,” reads the statement from Adidas announcing the end of a partnership valued in billions of dollars: the Yeezy line, immediately archived, it represented 8% of the group’s sales.
Ye has not tested the boundaries of acceptable behavior from today, but the last month has seen an acceleration of provocations. In Paris for the show of his YZYSZN9 line, Kanye wore a T-shirt with the words ‘White Lives Matter’ adopted by the supremacist movement. On social media and in post-show interviews he made anti-Semitic claims threatening Jews with death. The ostracism of social media was triggered.
