The war in the Rhodopes with the most dangerous predator of our country has begun

It has often been stated that the active hunting season for boar group hunting is the best time for a parallel battle with our country’s most dangerous predator – the wolf. Therefore, in the annual plans and temporary regulations of hunting associations, particular attention is paid to the fight against predators throughout the year and with particular attention during the hunting season, reports the website of the Union of Hunters and Fishermen in Bulgaria.

Proof of such a responsible attitude towards the problem is the politics and commitment of the hunting association in Gotse Delchev in this task. In the last two hunts, two of the teams whose camps are located in the Western Rhodopes – Dabnitsa and Tuhovishte – shot three wolves, two of them with trophy banners.

According to Ahmed Aliyev, the leader of the group in the village of Khvostane near Amla-Dabnitsa, in the morning briefings before departure, special attention is paid to the constant readiness to meet this predator. Proof of its total presence in the area are the incessant raids and complaints of local breeders for killed and eaten pets. The challenge becomes even greater when we add that three hunting dogs have been killed so far.

“The last exit, we hunted in the city of Bunkera”, began his story Ahmed Aliyev. -In the very first run, the dogs barked fiercely, one of them screamed pitifully, and when he approached the dogs, the hunter saw that an ear was torn and blood was flowing. The conclusion is easy: there are wolves in the area. It was quickly reported by posts that the pack, which had long been harassing the surrounding villages, was in the chase area. One of the callers told me that he saw and counted nine wolves. The cunning between predators and hunters was coming “.

It is no coincidence that the wolf is the most intelligent and intelligent animal of our nature. After the barking of the auctioneer and the dogs, most of them managed to get between the posts. After the cannonade of shots on the Pusia front, it was learned that hunters Ali Agush and Yussain Kadir fired at two and two others were seriously injured, but still managed to escape, which was evident from the bloody tracks. Yussain Kadir’s wolf, shot down after two hits, has an outstanding trophy record and was clearly the alpha male of the pack due to his size.

The previous week, hunters from the neighboring group also shot a large wolf in the village of Tukhovishte, which lies almost on the border with Greece.

Since the start of the season, Khvostane hunters have not collected or shot wild boars so far and there are no traces of them. The explanation is simple: where a wolf pack roams, there are no wild animals to hunt. The calm of the game is crucial to their presence, and also to the fortunes of the hunters.

Apparently, the battle with predators in the Western Rhodopes will continue. And as it develops, we will have the cures to follow.
