It is a good time Tom Vellings. Goats from the CW Kings who took the then PB to heroic levels (no pantyhose) Smallville Anywhere at the moment. He has a podcast with a former actor Michael Rosenbaumfallen off Comic Con in New York Crazy with him sudden appearance inside Winchester‘A team He announces his next assignment as Samuel Campbell, and of course he did for professionalsan internationally illustrated action series that has suddenly returned to the front page Brendan’s Freizerscurrently airing on the network.
Oddly, the show itself was shot years ago, before the main story of up-and-coming Peter Swan (Fraser) and grizzly bear safety expert Vincent Corbo (Welling) racing to stop a global epidemic was more science fiction. what a sad reality. “I mean we were done before the COVID type showed up three years ago,” Welling recalls. He adds that after watching the first episode of the series, she’s wife noticed the timing of the story. She adds: “I didn’t call myself because we let him go a long time ago!”
Here, Welling discusses the role, which allowed him to darken a bit, emphasizing how much fun he had with Fraser. Also, we had to figure out what it would be like when she met her character Smallville A team. Read more!
Hi Tom how are you?
Tom Vellings: It’s going well, man. Thanks for doing it.
Of course. Do you realize now that the show will have a lot of similarities to real life? You’re looking for vaccines, trying to prevent a pandemic …
[Laughs] Otherwise. We shot it right before all of this. In fact, one of the reasons it took so long to show up was because they shut down all non-essential jobs after the COVID outbreak, right? He forgot the terminology, but that prevented the production from actually ending the show for at least a year. So they couldn’t go in and edit. They weren’t even allowed into the studio.
The delay has already worked. Between Brendan’s return with external and you join WinchesterNow is the time to stop the show.
that is great. I’m actually shooting in New Orleans right now Winchester And I joke with Brendan on this show It turned out that I was really happy with it for professionals It might help her big reboot. [Laughs]
He had a good laugh. And yes, it does a great job. I saw him about two weeks ago in New York and he is really enjoying the moment. I couldn’t be happier for him, he’s one of the nicest people you’ve ever met.
And you guys have to work together a lot.
Yes, luckily we are together a lot, because the production itself was very difficult. The first half of our three months of shooting — we shot five episodes in the first month and a half, then the second half — the other five — we didn’t know what we were shooting until we showed the set that day. [Laughs] So, having edited a lot of these episodes together, I watched it and I’m still not sure what will happen anytime because [filmed out of order] Much.
It must have been very confusing as this is a sequential story. And with Vincent’s story arc, everyone seems to have an agenda that is slowly revealed. I’m pretty sure I don’t trust any of these people.
[Laughs] I know it! almost all [shady]. So Brendan’s personality and mine are somehow intertwined. When I first looked at the project nearly five years ago, Brendan’s character was written as truly undesirable. He wasn’t just a good guy. And then when Brendan showed up, he put his hand on her and it was so hard to do nav Like it or not? Because he’s so nice and that’s his genius.
And it must be cool for you to play a guy who couldn’t be nicer. He is a hero, but not exactly nice.
at all! I don’t think I had to smile once in two months. [Laughs] It’s a little bright and I like it. I didn’t allow anyone to get into character with that kind of playful energy. Because I have to be the “pro” and captain of Vincent’s crew. Between takes it was the opposite: we laughed a lot and had a lot of fun. And I think this has moved on to the audience joking with everyone in the trenches together.
And I think it’s something that people who are coming to the show might not expect – there’s a lot of humor in that.
Yes. There is a lot of humor and it’s not a joke, right? You know, it’s more situational and I don’t know if abstract is the word, but it’s just observable and more grounded.
Exactly. The humor seems to be more ingrained in the characters than in the situations they find themselves in.
Yes of course. Because there is nothing funny about being hit.
Who are you in most of the episodes? And everything has to be filmed, right? I have been to Ireland, South Africa and Latvia.
Yes. I think it was all day and outdoor shooting. And I think that’s what attracted me to her eccentric nature. There is a Robert De Niro movie that came out years ago called ronin You know, this movie works so well because it’s in weird places. And I think that’s what I’ve seen we’re going to do. I think at some point, outside Johannesburg, we were touring the cradle of humanity, where the first artifacts of human existence were found. And we shot there! In fact, there have been many times when I’ve looked around like, “I can’t believe I’m here”.
That’s why we got you involved in New York Comic Con Winchester A team.
I gave you a good hug! [Laughs]
Yes, you did! But you also had a huge one Smallville Plate of the meeting. How are you?
Yes. It was perfect. It was so much fun. You know we have some of these contracts throughout the year with various employees and others. And it’s always fun because even though we’re all friends and friends, we don’t all talk all the time, right? So when we put this environment together, it’s nice to catch up. And you know, some of us are talking about our children now. [Laughs] And one of the things when you shoot with actors on a show is that you create the kind of trust and loyalty that can come when you review them. Even if it’s been months or years. It really is a special bond.
It would be very rewarding to see how much the show means to the fans as well.
Oh yes. I think it was a show that people watched on a multigenerational level, people watched with their parents … and now it’s been 21 years and now people are showing it to their kids. You know, I do this podcast with Michael Rosenbaum where we review episodes and comment on behind-the-scenes stuff and funny memories, and I have to say, as I watch it, it still stays. It still looks very good.
We were really lucky, this was the moment when the visual effects reached the point where they were convenient for a TV show. And we have seen directors and show producers who have been able to use it. I think 90 percent of the time we had a visual effects guy, and that was really cool. And some of the things we did in the beginning that cost, say, maybe $ 50,000, at the end of that series was like, “Oh, we’re going to throw this thing here, no problem.” For example: “Yes, we know how to do it. We will hit [the F1 key] And it will happen. ” [Laughs]
I can’t believe it’s been 21 years. Smallville He is old enough to legally drink.
It is funny! I realized this about 2 weeks ago when I saw the movie premiere Winchester immediately after for professionals. So, until you reach episode 7 WinchesterThat’s when I look like Samuel, and then it’s the next hour for professionals. So I’m on that TV for hours and it’s not likely to happen again. [Laughs]
