Achieving a victory in the top category of motorsports is something reserved only for a privileged few who manage to demonstrate the talent they possess and cross the finish line in first position. It is something they have done 112 pilots throughout history, the last of them to make the list, Carlos Sainz at the 2022 British Grand Prix, but while reaching this historic ranking is already difficult, climbing positions within it is much more complicated.

Lewis Hamilton remains in the lead 103 winsfollowed by Michael Schumacher with 91 and Sebastian Vettel with 53while Alain Prost remained with 51 y Ayrton Senna with 41. Behind was Fernando Alonso, with 32 wins during his journey through Formula 1, but in the last United States Grand Prix, Max Verstappen managed to overtake the Spaniard by becoming the sixth driver who has climbed the top step of the podium several times.

The Dutchman has broken all sorts of records since landing at the Grand Circus, becoming the youngest ever to compete in a race while still a minor, with 17 years, 5 months and 15 daysin addition to winning a championship appointment, at the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix on his debut with Red Bull. At the time, no one in the paddock thought he could reach the numbers he is having, and that is that in his career he accumulates a percentage higher than 20%, which means that every five appointments he wins one.

If you take into account that in his first steps in Formula 1, it was only in 2021 when he began to dominate with a much more competitive Red Bull, namely that of 41 grands prix, he won 23, that is more than 56%, one every two races. This is how you get eras to remember in sports, as others like it Michael Jordan, Leo Messi, Roger Federer or Valentino Rossialso in the same category, with Michael Schumacher.

If he continues at a similar rate, it won’t take long to catch up with Lewis Hamilton and his 103 wins, or so 2028 or 2029just as his current contract with Milton Keynes’s team expires, he would have already passed it, at just 31, when the British and the ‘Kaiser‘were still in the running for their third world title.

The drivers with the most victories in Formula 1 history since the 2022 United States GP
