While farmer Gro Rudi (42) was working inside the barn, his tractor was idling just outside. Suddenly he heard the tractor engine cut out. Then his brother noticed flames coming out of the tractor shed.
– I am lucky to have a roommate who is a firefighter, who quickly put out the fire, says Rudi to Dagbladet.
In the stable next door there were 150 sheep. Emergency services were called, but after they were told that the farmer had managed to put out the fire himself, only the firefighters showed up at Rudi’s farm in Uvdal.
They ensured that the fire was properly extinguished and at the same time confirmed that the tractor was practically useless.
However, the police never made the trip. It would soon reveal itself to create new problems for Rudi.
Was Laagendalsposten who told the story to Rudi first.
One thing was missing
The 42-year-old farmer depends on the tractor to feed his animals daily. She was quick to notify the insurance company so that a new tractor could be installed right away.
The process with the insurance company went smoothly and everything was for her to quickly replace the burned-out tractor, until it became clear that she was missing something absolutely crucial from the police.
The insurance company could not replace his tractor until he received the police case number, which confirms the accident.
It would prove to be a longer and more cumbersome process than Rudi had imagined.
– Total helplessness
After being on the phone with the police all day, it became clear that the first time the police could send a patrol was Wednesday.
It’s been three days since he called the police and reported the tractor fire. At the same time, she was told that she could not move the tractor.
– I feel total helplessness. I depend on the tractor to run the farm here, and it’s silly for the whole process to stop because we have to wait for the police to come and look into the case, says Rudi.
– It is perceived as unfair.
Twelve year old died in the collapse of the garage
Both Rudi and his roommate went to great lengths to expedite the police visit to the farm in the mountain village at the top of Numedal. They are said to have been told by the police operations center that “that’s right, that’s what the politicians decided”.
Then finally the breeder decided to call the mayor.
– We will be terribly vulnerable here in the district if that is the case, says Rudi.
– Unreasonable
But the mayor didn’t even lure the police into town. According to Rudi, they insisted Wednesday was the first opportunity.
– The mayor contacted the police himself and did what he could, but he didn’t get anywhere either. I know he’s working to strengthen the readiness here in the district and he probably thinks he’s been another example joining the ranks.
Explain that the tractor is a tool he needs every day.
– It’s a direct obstacle to my work. It seems both unreasonable and useless, says the farmer.
Shock discovery in the park
She was allowed to borrow a tractor from her uncle until Tuesday. After that, she has to bet on getting help from friends in the area.
– I will probably make it, but I think it is wrong that this is because the police do not have the opportunity to prioritize.
The police: – It can happen
In front of Laagendalsposten sorry Kongsberg police station chief, Håvard Revå.
– The patrol that was out on Sunday was on its way there, but was hijacked on another incident. This is the kind of thing that can happen, says Revå newspaper.
Emphasize that it is the operations center that decides which missions the patrol should prioritize.
– Ideally, the patrol should have been there that evening, but there was no danger to life or health here, and then it happens that you have to change priorities. I’m just sorry it took a while, but I can confirm that the police will look into this on Wednesday.
