At around 4:30 PM, Austrian Airlines Boeing 767-300ER, OE-LAZ, took off to fly from Vienna to New York’s JFK Airport as OS 087 route. But after a short period of flight, the two-jet aircraft interrupted his journey. Near the Austro-Czech border, the pilots informed air traffic control that they had to return to Vienna Schwechat airport. About an hour after take-off, around 5:30 pm, the jet landed safely in Vienna.
According to information from Austrian Wings, a medical emergency on board, a so-called “doctor”, forced the car back to Vienna.
At the request of Austrian Wings, the Austrian Airlines press office confirmed that the return landing was due to a “doctor”. According to information available to “Austrian Wings”, a crew member was struck by a serious health problem. The AUA declined to comment on the request.
