I have had several Motorola devices for several years (X Play and Z play) and with both devices it was a mess with the updates. Yes, I received them, but then it took between 2 and 6 months for the security updates and 1 x update.

Motorola’s advantage was that there was a minimal amount of bloatware present, one of the features I miss is the “chop for flashlight” feature.

Upgraded to Samsung (Note10 Lite and S22 Ultra) since 2020 and you get security updates and sometimes new features every month. Also, there is support on the Galaxy S line for 5 years and on cheaper models like the Galaxy A class, slightly less. But you get security updates every month …

As far as I can find, it appears Motorola has changed the update policy with 2 long software updates and security updates every 2 months. See the article by Android authority
