Rapp wanted $ 40 million in compensation from Spacey (about a billion crowns).
Spacey claimed from the start of the trial that he did nothing wrong. His lawyers called Rapp’s testimony implausible and the whole story was made up. “Mr. Rapp is getting more attention during this trial than he has in his entire life,” said Spacey’s attorney Jennifer Keller.

Rapp testified in court that he was at Spacey’s home in 1986, watching television in his bed. The then 26-year-old actor is said to have partially laid him down so that his groin touched the 14-year-old boy’s hips. But he managed to break free and left the house, even though Spacey urged him to stay. Rapp said the experience caused him harm. Spacey denied the harassment, according to Rapp’s lawyer Richard Steigman, Spacey contradicted himself in his statements.
Another trial in London
Spacey is also accused of sex offenses in a London court. In Great Britain, sexual assault is punishable by six months’ imprisonment or an unlimited fine. He was forced to have sex without consent then up to life imprisonment.
Spacey’s career ended abruptly in 2017, when about 20 men accused him of sexual harassment and assault. This happened during the MeToo campaign against sexual harassment. The actor, who won an Oscar for his roles in American Beauty and The Usual Suspects, did not go on to play the lead role in the House of Cards series.
