The civil society of the city of Kikwit and that of the city of Bandundu denounced on Thursday 20 October the deplorable security situation of recent times in the greater area of Bandundu, relating to the Teke-Yaka crisis that extends to Kwilu, Kwango. They ask that the “black hand” the root of this crisis is identified.
In a release read to the press, these structures formulate numerous recommendations, in particular to the Congolese government, the judicial services and local communities, to end this security crisis.
The civil societies of Kikwit and Bandundu, regarding the security situation that still prevails in greater Bandundu, declare that “The failure to take into account the famous Teke-Yaka crisis over time is at the root of the crisis that extends from Kwamouth to Mai-Ndombe towards the provinces of Kwilu and Kwango”, said Laurent Bwenia, president of the civil society of Kikwit.
In his opinion, “Killing with the pleasure of seeing blood is not the culture of the great Bandundu. May the defamed black hand, which is at the root of this crisis, be identified and put out of danger ”.
He wants the perpetrators or co-perpetrators of the murders to be tried before their natural judges in a public trial, in order to know “the details of this strange crisis”.
The civil societies of these provinces urge the groups and tribes of the great Bandundu, once deemed peaceful, not to allow themselves to be manipulated into opposing each other. Let the state regulate customary canons so that this no longer serves as a pretext for other crises ”.
