Düsseldorf / Main-Spessart: Confession in …

The trial for the death of a 23-year-old boatman from Main-Spessart began with a confession. The accused homeless man admitted to the Düsseldorf district court on Thursday that he killed the young man from the Main-Spessart district with a bollard in June. The 55-year-old man deeply regrets the act and asks his relatives for forgiveness.

The police officer who arrested the accused after the crime also testified. The homeless man said after the crime that he felt the need to kill, the official said.

The 55-year-old also said he felt disturbed by the young man in his bed. The victim was on leave at the time of the crime. The crime scene was at the Ratinger Tor in Düsseldorf, the area is often used by the homeless as a place to sleep. The bollard had remained on the ground due to a construction site and was not – as usual – anchored to the ground.
