Before going to the Hall of Elders, have a good breakfast, and above all keep yourself hydrated. It is imperative to drink water or fruit juices before, during and after blood donations. Of course, alcoholic beverages should be avoided in the hours leading up to the donation. Therefore, although the blood volume is replenished quickly after a blood draw, intense physical exertion should not be made in the following hours.
