Los Angeles (AFP) – Success first! French pivot Rudy Gobert shined for the first time with the Minnesota shirt, contributing in large measure to the success of the “Wolves” against Oklahoma City (115-108), during the NBA games played on Wednesday.

After the first two opening games of the season the day before, 24 teams entered the scene on Wednesday, including the new line-up of “Gobzilla”.

On the floor of Minneapolis, against the Thunder, the triple best defender of the league made a double double, with 23 points and 16 rebounds.

After a hot start (35-22 at the end of the first quarter), Minnesota got scared in the third (87-87), before widening the gap again in the decisive moments.

The French international, who the day before had expressed his hope of playing the title with the Wolves in an interview with AFP, can now turn to the reception on Friday … from Utah, his former team.

In the shock of the night, the Phoenix Suns snatched their first valuable win (107-105) against the Dallas Mavericks, after falling 22 points in the third quarter.

While Serbian “Mavs” star Luka Doncic (35 points) looked set to lead the Texan team to a quiet success, the role of the night’s hero finally replaced Damion Lee, who scored the win in the final seconds.

Another form of “comeback” Wednesday night, in Brooklyn, with the winning return of the New Orleans strong forward Zion Williamson, who has been absent from the fields for more than a season due to injury and has scored 25 points, for a success of 130- 108 of the Pelicans against the nets.

“This is crazy!” exclaimed the All Stars of the 2020-21 season. “Just doing the sport I love, which I haven’t been able to do in a long time, is a breath of fresh air. (…) But there is still a lot of room for improvement,” added the 22-year-old.

In Tenessee, a less joyful evening for Evan Fournier’s Knicks, beaten in overtime 115-112 by Memphis.
