The Silent Hill 2 remake was developed in Unreal Engine 5

According to the publication in PS blogthe reinterpretation was built on the basis of the Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine and will present two new features: Lumen and Nanite, which can increase “graphics to new levels, highly detailed and realistic, elevating the jitters of the game.”

  • Lumen is a fully dynamic global lighting solution that reacts immediately to changes in scene and light. This means that the light interacts with the environment in a realistic way, just like in the real world. The entire play environment is lit more naturally this way.
  • Technology Naniti, on the other hand, it is an amazing tool for level designers. With it, they can create incredibly detailed worlds and more realistic environments that look almost real.

Also, the PS5 version will take full advantage of the console’s features, so expect 3D audio (with WWise sound engine), support for DualSense and of course extremely fast loading thanks to the SSD.
