RSUP Dr. Sardjito reveals one of the patients baby dead linked to the case mysterious acute kidney he had never taken drugs before.
RSUP pediatrician, Dr Sardjito Kristia Hermawan, said the patient who died at the age of 7 months from the regency of Bantul, Yogyakarta, consumed only natural breast milk and complementary foods.
“Do not take drugs. Only breast milk and complementary foods, not even packaged,” said Kristia, Wednesday (19/10).

Kristia added that when she was taken to Dr Sardjito Hospital, she had respiratory and liver problems in addition to kidney failure. According to him, there was an increase in enzymes in the baby’s liver.
A similar condition was experienced by another Bantul patient who died who was 11 months old. However, Kristia continued, from these two cases the cause of acute kidney failure is still a question mark.
“What is a toxin or an inflammatory process. When there is a condition of kidney failure, this is the most serious, accompanied by other organs as well. If the kidneys are not accompanied by an expenditure of fluids, they can become congested,” he said. explained.
“The kidneys work to expel fluid, if it doesn’t come out it will build up in the lungs and make breathing difficult,” he continued.
Dr Sardjito Retno Palupi, a specialist in pediatric nephrology, added that the two patients were also accompanied by a reduced state of consciousness when they entered the hospital.
“This is what makes (condition) difficult for these patients,” he added.
RSUP Dr. So far, Sardjito has recorded 6 patients who died in connection with mysterious cases of acute kidney failure in children from January to October 2022. The total cases during that period were 13 cases.
The latest death reported today occurred in a 4-year-old patient from Ngawi, East Java. He was treated at RSUP Dr Sardjito after 5 days before being referred by RSUD Mowardi Solo.
The patient had previously undergone hemodialysis. However, his condition gradually worsened with complications in various organs.
