There is no representation PSSI at the meeting of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) with FIFA president Gianni Infantino at Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta. Jokowi said the meeting was the responsibility of FIFA and the Indonesian government.
“PSSI will be a FIFA affair later on. It was FIFA’s business with the government,” Jokowi told reporters at Merdeka Palace in downtown Jakarta on Tuesday (10/18/2022).
During the meeting, Jokowi was accompanied by Menpora Zainudin Amali and BUMN Minister Erick Thohir. Meanwhile, Gianni brought some representatives of the FIFA delegation to meet Jokowi.

“Previously we discussed, I discussed with FIFA President Gianni Infantino during a closed session, for 30 minutes, then together with Mr. Menpora, Mr. Erick and the FIFA team, for 1.5 hours, so a total 2 hours. We discussed in detail what Indonesian football will look like in the future, “said Jokowi.
Transformation of Indonesian football
Jokowi said his meeting with the FIFA president led to a number of important decisions. Jokowi and the FIFA president have decided to bring about a complete transformation of Indonesian football.
“We have agreed to bring about a complete transformation of Indonesian football,” Jokowi said at a news conference.
Jokowi said the transformation includes competition and safety aspects. In addition, spectators and players must ensure their safety while watching football.
“By ensuring that all aspects of the match are conducted according to the safety standards set by FIFA, both players and spectators must ensure their safety,” said Jokowi.
“For this reason, we have decided to review the feasibility of the stadium and also to apply the technology to help mitigate the various potentials that endanger spectators and players,” added Jokowi.
Jokowi wants this deal with FIFA to be an impetus to improve Indonesian football. Jokowi hopes that the world of football in the country will be more victorious in the future.
“We make this agreement a momentum to improve the Indonesian football system so that Indonesian football becomes national pride and functions better in the future,” said Jokowi.
