The damage to the platform on the north side of the station has not yet been repaired. That is why there are still buses between Bergen op Zoom and Roosendaal. The lockdown is expected to last at least until Thursday, ProRail says.
Technical Problems
There was no one on the bus at the time of the accident, which was stationary on the platform. The bus was not in service and the driver was standing beside the platform, still trying to warn the approaching train with swinging arms. The collision occurred at the guarded level crossing in Marconilaan. According to a spokesperson for Connexxion, the bus driver had just completed a morning shift and was driving to the parking lot with an empty bus. The bus stopped at the level crossing due to technical problems, the driver told police. Then the barriers fell and the driver said he jumped off the bus.
