COVID-19: Eight Regions Reduce Cases Over Last Two Weeks – Ministry of Health

– 3,225 new cases have been reported, with 25,088 examinations nationwide in the past 24 hours

The Ministry of Health reports that new nationally confirmed cases have shown a variation of 25% in the last week, while in 14 days there has been an increase of 1%. Meanwhile, one region decreases its new confirmed cases in the past 7 days and eight do so in the past two weeks.

As for the case report of this Monday, October 17, 3,225 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded, with a positivity of 10.95% in the last 24 hours nationwide, with 25,088 examinations, PCR and antigen tests. The daily positivity in the Metropolitan Region is 13.83%.

Of the 3,225 new cases, 42% are diagnosed by antigen testing, 36% result from active case detection (BAC), and 13% of those reported are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan Region, it has 36% of antigen, 36% of BAC and 10% of reported cases are asymptomatic.

According to the sample collection, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are O’Higgins, Metropolitana, Biobío and La Araucanía.

Meanwhile, the Biobío region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by the regions of Ñuble, Maule and Atacama.

As for the deaths, according to information provided by the DEIS, in the last 24 hours there have been 15 deaths due to causes related to COVID-19. The total number of deceased amounts to 61,448 in the country.

As for the Network of Laboratories and diagnostic capacity, the results of 25,088 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported yesterday, reaching a total of 45,674,866 analyzed nationwide to date.
