ABU DHABI, October 17 / WAM / The Board of Directors of the country’s Federal Nuclear Regulatory Authority was briefed at its meeting on the latest developments in the four units of the Barakah nuclear power plant, recently connected to the electricity grid.
The Board of Directors underlined the importance of ensuring the safety and security of the operation of the Barakah nuclear power plant.
The Board of Directors also approved the issue of a modified version of the Regulation relating to the leadership and management of nuclear safety in nuclear plants and the Regulation relating to technical services for radiation protection. The two regulations will come into force after their publication in the Official Gazette.
The council decided to sign an agreement between the authority and the French National Institute of Nuclear and Technical Sciences for cooperation in the fields of education and training in nuclear reactors, nuclear fuels and materials. Council members stressed the importance of building Emirati capacities in this important field.
