In the European Parliament, a Pfizer executive replied that the COVID-19 vaccine had not been tested to prevent contagion or not. This quality, understood in everything that is labeled in this way, was precisely what led to mandatory vaccination campaigns, in the countries of authoritarian rulers who promoted it with a yes or a yes, or in those almost mandatory. of those who have induced through the elimination or limitation of the rights to free movement, association and access to life-sustaining establishments, such as workplaces or the sale of food and beverages.
Pending a vaccine that eliminates the possibility of contagion, governments around the world have decided to stop the flows of goods, services and people on which the livelihood of the inhabitants of the earth depends. In an interview with Acento.TV in early May 2020, when the hysteria about a virus with a lethality lower than that which required comparisons by country in the basis points was still growing exponentially, I explained that we were creating a meteorite like the rumored to be over with the dinosaurs. Our existence depends on an infinite network of transactions that connect the entire planet in a way that no one has described better than Leonard Read in “I, Pencil”. Stopping all this by order of an international agency was tantamount to suicide, creating the meteorite that takes us back, with a little luck, to the caves.
In this medium I was one of the voices that have been raised against states of siege, abuses with curfews and intentions to exploit the pandemic to promote generalized price control, monopolistic production or import by the government. of all that is deemed essential. to fight the pandemic and an orgy of expropriation of masks, gowns, gloves, alcohol and even motel rooms for hospital services.
It all started with the government of Danilo Medina, a president who vehemently complained that the virus arrived without a coordinated global government who, like a master conductor of a world symphony, draws guidelines for all countries. From the beginning it was not possible because there has always been resistance to absolute power and Sweden was the first stone in the shoe. But the evidence against the famous two-week imprisonment to “break the contagion curve” began to sow doubts and, of course, the farce had to be written as it went. Like the little boat song “one two three four five six seven weeks went by and food started running out” in countries where stricter restrictions were imposed and, what a surprise !, in a chart comparing deaths and infections with peers who had more flexible policies could not be classified as the best (with its curve almost touching the horizontal axis).
It was clear that with Gonzalo-Medina and Leonel Fernández politics would be “Yes, Sir!”. Criticism of the state of siege policy was advanced by the PRMs before and after the elections, but in power they jumped on the train of the state of emergency, trusting science, waiting for the vaccine and mitigating the damage of the meteorite with the help of the loss of income, bank debt relief payments and others. It all started well, but support for draconian measures has gradually eroded because, as history teaches, they are never generally applicable.
On the same day, a video was seen of police officers ready to make a barricade on an Azua beach to collect a toll as the clock indicated the start of the curfew and another with the fun of the style “Nothing happens here. ! ” of the rich and famous in the social club lounge, in a luxury hotel or in a villa. In the networks, the persecution of two policemen in motor vehicles was compared to a peasant who returned to his house on horseback with that of a mixed patrol who spoke with the Blonde of the Curfew and I understand the inspiration of Fabio Fiallo when he wrote Gólgota Rosa.
But the most painful thing was seeing the happy faces of workers and entrepreneurs enjoying the privilege of being part of the establishments authorized to operate in compliance with a health protocol, together with the testimonies of failure and loss of livelihood by those who also had the skills and competences to operate in a healthy environment to prevent contagion.
The rejection of measures to deal with the pandemic was growing and the variable to measure the discontent was the happiness observed in the greater frequency of cases and of the participants in the so-called “teteos”, a word coined to refer to the meetings of young people in the neighborhoods to which it was charged the fault of the fact that “the curve has not gone down, that the infections have not subsided”; the ones that led a famous news content producer to lose her temper with “il teteeeoooo mi haaartaaaa!”.
The time has come for the vaccine, which we must assume was purchased with a contract that must be invalid for fraud if somewhere it is said that vaccines were a guarantee of non-contagion, and yet another finding arrives to divide the population. We have been among the countries that have induced it through the restriction of rights, they have not declared it mandatory, but the requirement of a vaccination card to lead a normal life has left many with no other option. The government made an effort in the first two doses, but the famous variants began, the information that the effectiveness to prevent contagion was lost over time, that reinforcements would be needed, that children had to be vaccinated and more requires more of a script that seems to have bored the authorities.
Credit must be given to the government for saying “So far, no more!” To many in advance. I think this is what he left as a resource to compose himself now that between perjury and telling the truth, the Pfizer executive, with a short nervous chuckle, explained that the vaccines were not tested to see if they prevented contagion or not, which “they had to move science at the speed of the market”. In short, they mocked the governments that bought them vaccines and forced the population to inject themselves.
This devalues to zero any possibility of an electoral dividend to that “we were countries that best respected the protocols of the WHO”, for the rulers swindled by the pharmaceutical multinational. Now we must begin the race to salvage the respect, admiration and support of voters by showing courage in demanding explanations and demanding reparations.
