Car shows aren’t what they used to be. In Paris, the French and Chinese car brands are at the center. Few other manufacturers are lining up. The traditional Geneva exhibition in March has been moved to Qatar.
Important to check now
However, next week in Paris there are interesting cars on display. For Norway, electric cars apply. We have selected five that are clearly exciting for Norwegians looking for a new car.
First electric Jeep
American Jeep is now also betting on electric cars. The Avenger is a 4.07-meter compact SUV and will be Jeep’s first pure electric car. It will also have petrol engines, but in Norway the electric version applies.
The car is built on the same platform as the Peugeot e-2008 and comes with two and four wheel drive. The range will be around 40 miles. Avenger will be built in a factory in Poland and will arrive in Norway over the next year. By 2025, Jeep will have three or four electric cars for sale in Europe.
Fisker Ocean – first in Norway
This is a new and unknown car brand in Norway, but when the Danish Henrik Fisker launches the Electric Ocean, the Norwegians are at the forefront. The philosophy is that this electric car should be for most people. Originally, the basic version of the car was priced at NOK 380,000, but by all accounts it will be a bit more expensive.
The first 5,000 cars will be a launch edition with the best specifications and a lot of equipment. It gets a battery pack that will give the car a range of 630 kilometers, two engines for a total of 550 horsepower and four-wheel drive. The price for the first edition is NOK 625,000 in Norway. The car is built at the Magna plant in Graz, Austria.
New Chinese successfully?
When China’s BYD launched the Tang SUV in Europe, Norwegian customers were among the first to receive the car. Now comes the Atto 3 compact SUV, which could be an even bigger hit for the Chinese automaker.
The plan is to beat the competition on both price and range. Competitors include Renault Megane E-Tech and Kia Niro EV.
These are exempt from VAT
The price starts at just under NOK 400,000. Then you get a 60 kWt battery, 42-mile range, a 440-liter trunk, and a 204-horsepower engine that drives the front wheels. Not four-wheel drive, in short. The Norwegian importer promises short delivery times, with the first cars in place before Christmas.
Luxury SUV from Mercedes
It will not be the cheapest, but still a very exciting car for many Norwegian buyers. The SUV version of the Mercedes EQE will have its world premiere in Paris on Monday evening, but it is not an official part of the auto show.
Unlike its big brother EQS SUV, which has seven seats, the EQE SUV gets five. Early editions will likely have expensive AMG specs. This means, among other things, all-wheel drive and steering on the rear axle as standard. The range will likely be around 60 miles.
We don’t know the price yet, but the sedan version of the EQE with all-wheel drive starts at around NOK 700,000. The price of the big brother EQS SUV is almost NOK 1.3 million when VAT is added from January 1st.
The smallest electric car from Renault
Renault has already confirmed that it is coming with a new compact electric car that has clear characteristics compared to the old Renault 5. In Paris, they are showing the 4ever concept car, which is built on the same platform, but is a notch smaller.
In terms of design, it takes inspiration from the old Renault 4. So far we don’t know much about the car, except that it will be electric and is a crossover, which is a cross between an SUV and a normal car. The two-wheel drive will be standard. The car is unlikely to go on sale for two to three years.
