Of Heritage parade is a traveling performance that creates a connection between culture and iconic buildings with a so-called vertical dance. The Great Church of Beverwijk, popularly called Wijkertoren, should not be missing in this. This weekend the building more than five centuries ago was the backdrop for the ‘Dancing to Heaven’ show several times. The audience is relieved that dancers Natasja Bode and Suzanne de Bekker have returned safely to the ground after their wild feats. “As long as it goes well”, the spectators could be heard thinking. But the two dancers would rather float in the air than be safe on the ground. “I always find it a little boring when I’m back downstairs,” says Suzanne de Bekker. “There is nothing better than soaring high in the air.”
