The Hyenas actor made filming Quentin Tarantino a nightmare
It was Lawrence Tierney, who played the lead organizer of the bank robbery team in the film. The man, who was over 70 at the time, had constantly quarreled with the police all his life. He had a known drinking problem and was considered difficult to deal with. During the filming of The Hyenas, he became briefly arrested for shooting his nephew (through Far magazine ). The Guardian quotes Tarantino:
[Tierney war] a fucking madman [und] he should have been sedated. He questioned every part of the shoot. After a week everyone hated him. Then we had a fight in the last twenty minutes of the first week. I fired him and the whole crew cheered me. But I thought, “That’s it for my film career.”

Fortunately, lead actor Harvey Keitel managed to calm the studio bosses, who were upset by the incident, and Tarantino continued filming. He and Tierney finally settled their argument, but they never toured together again afterwards. Le Iene is now considered an indie milestone and the start of Tarantino’s career. Lawrence Tierney died in 2002.
