Multan: 400 bodies found on top of a hospital building in the Pakistani province of Punjab are believed to be Baloch or Pashtun. The decomposed bodies were found on top of Multan’s Punjab Nishtar Hospital on Saturday. The body cases were opened and the internal organs removed.
Large ‘salwar’-like clothes were found on the corpses. The media quoted a doctor who claimed this indicated that the victims were either Baloch or Pashtun. When the body was examined, it was clear that the people lived in the mountains or similar rugged areas. At the same time, the doctor says hospital authorities are not ready to conduct the DNA test and are trying to close the matter.
These are believed to be the bodies of those who were kidnapped by Pakistani forces from the provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The bodies were found by Chaudhary Zaman Gujjar, the prime minister’s adviser. Gujjar said that during the visit to the hospital, a person came and said, “If you want to do good, go to the morgue and check”, and when he went, the staff were not ready to open the morgue. They only opened the door when they said they would file a FIR against you if you didn’t open it now, Gujjar added.
When asked about seeing so many abandoned corpses, the doctors replied that they were used for the study of medical students.
At the same time, Baloch separatist leaders called on international human rights organizations to conduct an independent investigation into the incident. They also said DNA testing should be done. The leaders also informed that the United Nations Human Rights Organization (UNHRC) has repeatedly raised the issue of the disappearances of Baloch and Pashtuns.
