Honda is preparing to switch to more environmentally friendly energy. The Japanese manufacturer is currently working on preparing an ecosystem of batteries for electric vehicles in collaboration with LG Energy Solution.
Honda Motor Co., Ltd. and LG Energy Solution announced that the Honda Electric Vehicle Battery Factory headquarters will be located in Fayette County, Ohio, United States, with a total investment value of 3 , $ 5 billion or about Rp 53.7 trillion.
The factory is expected to reach the target production capacity of 40 GWh per year. The new industry will employ approximately 2,200 workers in and around Fayette County City.

The two sides previously inaugurated cooperation in the production of electric vehicle batteries through a cooperation agreement in late August 2022. This factory will produce pouch batteries that will be supplied to Honda’s electric vehicle assembly plant in North America, in in line with the growing trend of electric vehicles in the region. The factory will begin construction in early 2023 with the goal of mass-producing advanced lithium-ion battery cells by the end of 2025.
“Our commitment is to produce high quality products with Honda. Not only that, we also create profitable jobs for both sides,” said Dong-Myung Kim, executive vice president of LG Energy Solution’s Advanced Automotive Battery division.
In addition, Honda also announced its global plan to launch up to 30 electric cars by 2030, with a production volume of 2 million units per year. Additionally, Honda is also looking to achieve carbon neutrality for all product lines and company operations by 2050.
