Yannick V. died in a firefight with the police, during a search of his home in Merksem. The special forces had invaded there because they were suspected of armed resistance against the government. As a “prepper” he prepared for the end of civilization.
The family asked for an honest and peaceful farewell, in which flags or declarations were not welcome. That call is also followed up. About 300 mourners gathered in the church. A screen was also placed outside, but at the beginning of the ceremony there were no mourners.
