Fürth (dpa) – SpVgg Greuther Fürth received another low blow in the second Bundesliga just before the final whistle against a rustic Hansa Rostock.
The Franks were not put off by the tough game of the guests on Friday at 2: 2 (1: 0). A Ryan Malone penalty (90 + 3) that was converted just before the end robbed Franconia’s dismay of their second win of the season. After a third consecutive draw at the start of matchday 12, coach Marc Schneider’s team moved up to 15th place in the standings.
Fürth captain Branimir Hrgota (20th minute) set the lead in front of 10,516 spectators. A recovery attempt by Damian Roßbach landed right in front of him, Hrgota hammered the ball into the goal from 17 meters. A shot from distance by the striker (36 ‘) then crashes into the crossbar, and from close range he also fails (45’ + 6 ‘) on goalkeeper Markus Kolke.
Lukas Fröde’s equalizer (57 ‘) equalized with a header from Ragnar Ache (60’) after a splendid cross from Simon Asta. After the Giallorossi against John Verhoek (62nd), Afimico Pululu (88th) lost the great chance of 3-1 just before the end. In return, Malone shocked the hosts.
The Francons were fortunate that the initially powerful hosts did not take the lead. A header by Verhoek (10 ‘) from six meters in a row on the man manages to defuse goalkeeper Andreas Linde. After unfortunate direct contact with a header, Rostock’s Nico Neidhart and Anderson Lucoqui were treated for minutes on the lawn. The two full backs then had to leave the pitch prematurely.
