NEW YORK – New York police are investigating a possible homicide-suicide in a Brooklyn compound after a woman and man were found dead.
The discovery occurred around 2:01 am Friday, when agents responded to a request for social assistance inside Building 5320, located on 6th Avenue.
Upon arrival, a 52-year-old man was found on the ground outside the building, unconscious and with trauma marks indicating a fall from a higher height.
Officers said they interviewed an emergency health services caller inside the building and were told about a commotion coming from apartment # 1. 4A.
The officers entered the apartment and observed an unconscious 61-year-old woman with multiple lacerations to her head, neck and upper torso lying in the corridor area of the apartment. The health workers intervened on the spot and declared that the man and woman died on the spot.
At the bloody scene, a bloody hammer was recovered, along with a screwdriver and a knife. Police said the couple had two recorded domestic accident reports.
A medical examiner will determine the cause of each death as the investigation continues.
The identity of the deceased is awaiting communication to the family.
