FIFA, AFC, government and PSSI officially form the task force for the transformation of Indonesian football

TIME.CO, JakartaPSSI held a meeting with representatives of FIFA, AFC and the government of Indonesia in Jakarta on Thursday 13 October 2022. The four decided to form a task force for the transformation of football after the Kanjuruhan tragedy on 1 October.

The PSSI, FIFA, the AFC, the Indonesian Police, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Construction, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Health are members of the team of the task force. .

“First of all on behalf of the federation, once again sorry for what happened with the tragedy, and PSSI will assume all the responsibilities. One of the forms is that today as a response we have decided to form a task force for the transformation of football, “said PSSI general president Mochamad Iriawan.

Iriawan revealed that a number of representatives from the ministry and the football body discussed the framework and work plan for the improvement of football. Each institution has its role and function. The police, he explained, will synchronize safety standards between FIFA rules and standard police operating procedures.

On the sporting side, the Ministry of Youth and Sports will supervise, the Ministry of Public Works will have a role in verifying the feasibility of the stadium. “In accordance with President Jokowi’s directive to control all stadiums. I also received information, the PUPR minister is currently also at the Kanjuruhan stadium to directly verify standardization,” Iriawan said.

In the timeline, the task force has already prepared the planning for the resumption of the football competition. Under existing schedule, if all timings go smoothly, Liga 1 2022-2023 is expected to start on 25 or 26 November 2022. Nearby, PSSI will have another meeting with FIFA and AFC in Kuala Lumpur on 17 October.
