A boat catches fire, two people rescued off Bandol

This thick smoke was seen Wednesday morning, around 10:00, from the west coast of the Var, some 6,000 miles away.

It comes from a 10-meter throw in flames. Cross Med immediately activated the emergency services.

A crew from the National Society for Sea Rescue (SNSM) from Bandol traveled to the area and cared for two people over the age of 70, boarding them first on the semi-rigid to take them to the shuttle.

Probably intoxicated, the victims were then placed under oxygen before being flown by the French Navy Dauphin to the Sainte-Anne hospital in Toulon.

The support and assistance building hired by the Navy arrived on site shortly after 11 to deal with the fire.
