BL, Group D: the situation is complicated, Tottenham take the lead

Neither advanced nor eliminated from Champions League Group D on Wednesday night and, if possible, the situation became even more complicated: Marseille also defeated Sporting, who had been in first place (2-0) away from home, while Tottenham they lost 3-2 at home to overtake Frankfurt – so the English side look forward to the continuation at the top.

TOTTENHAM – FRANKFURT 3–2

Frankfurt started well, which immediately paid off: at 14 ‘Eric Dier loses the ball inside his 16, the Frankfurters create a situation of checkmate, Hugo Lloris saves once, but not the second. Kamada Daicsi shot on target 0–1. VIDEO HERE!

The picture of the match up to that moment did not promise, but Tottenham drew immediately: in the 20 ‘Harry Kane kicks out Szon Hung Mint, and the South Korean marker shot clear in the left corner, 1–1. VIDEO HERE!

Some statistics: this was the 50th time that the duo of Harry Kane and Szon Hung Min have assisted each other. This has happened 43 times in the Premier League, twice in the Champions League and FA Cup, and once in the Europa League, European Conference League and First Qualifier. (Opt)

The goal kicked off the home team, who already had the lead eight minutes later: Harry Kane made his way through two defenders, the third overturned him and the team captain sold the penalty awarded after the video, 2–1. VIDEO HERE!

Frankfurt also did not get the ball flawlessly, and Spurs punished this in the 36th minute: the Londoners won the ball on the left, turned the action, Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg went from the right and Szon Hung Min bombed on the net 3–1. VIDEO HERE!

THE TARGET. THE GOAL

The Londoners started the second half with energy and, even if they didn’t score a goal, they were in an even more favorable position in the 60th minute after the dismissal of Frankfurt’s Tuta. However, despite the numerical superiority, the German team scored a substitute goal Faride Alidou with his head 3–2. VIDEO HERE!

Spurs had a chance to restore the two-goal gap, Kane could have scored a second penalty, but bombed the ball into the stands in the 92nd minute. It happened that Alidou could have equalized, but Lloris saved the ball.

SPORTING – MARSEILLE 0–2

Sporting started well, but Ricardo Esgaio, who was playing his 100th game with the team, put them in a difficult situation: he received his second yellow card in the 19 ‘, and his foul against Amin Harit also earned a penalty. Matteo Guendouzi showed no mercy, he really shot in the bottom right corner, 0–1. VIDEO HERE!

Some statistics: the last time Marseille took the lead in a CL match was in 2013; since then, he has failed in 11 consecutive games – until now. (Opt)

Harit was also involved in the second OM goal, shot on goal from his cross Alessio Sanchez. The coast guard saluted, but the VAR room voted against, Harit just jumped out of a good position, 0–2. VIDEO HERE!

Until half-time, Sporting made three changes to stabilize their game, but the situation worsened in the 60th minute: Pedro Goncalves received two yellow cards in one minute (foul + complaint) – the home team remained with nine men, in a virtually hopeless situation.

Some statistics: Sporting have received three red cards in their two BL games against Marseille this year, no team has grossed more against the same opponent in a BL competition. (Opt)
