(ped) It was Mackie Messer in the “Threepenny Opera”, struck by Patrick Süsskind’s monodrama “Der Kontrabass” and amused many with his Heinz Erhardt program. Michael Ophelders, who has been a member of the acting ensemble of the Krefeld and Mönchengladbach theaters since 2015 and subsequently appeared as a guest, has now been awarded the German Musical Theater Prize.
This award is considered to be one of the most important theater awards in Germany and is the only award for German-language musicals awarded by professionals to professionals. The German Music Academy named outstanding German-language musical productions of the 2021/22 season in 14 categories and awarded an honorary award. Musical cabaret artist Bodo Wartke and singer Melanie Haupt moderated the awards ceremony as part of a gala at Schmidts Tivoli in Hamburg. Ophelders was awarded Best Actor for Brigitte Bordeaux. The musical premiere, conducted by Alexander May, was screened in the summer at the Mayen Castle Festival.
