You don’t play without your phone. Blizzard snubbed the game, then changed his mind

If the biggest issues with the new Overwatch 2 edge are five five-point servers, errors, and inappropriate disconnection, Blizzard has added another icing on the cake. After the game, he wanted every player on Battle.net to secure the double phase with the help of a cell phone signal (SMS Protect). Although in principle there is no such thing in the code, the user could not get away with such a sudden request to steal millions.

Finally, not all phone numbers are the same. Blizzard has also added a requirement that I cannot come from a prepaid card. This is mainly because the requirement cannot be circumvented simply by purchasing a disposable telephone line. The problem is, of course, that a huge number of people are using prepaid cards completely or simply don’t have enough money to get a rate.

According to Blizzard, using a wiretap makes it easier to identify cheaters, making it difficult, for example, to create alternate accounts.

Eventually, Blizzard’s claims failed. In particular, the company does not want to be burdened by another scandal and the outflow of gambling, which is why it has decided to change this rule so that it only applies to those founded after April 9, 2021. If you are concerned, it is not necessary to use the telephone line.

To comply with the new rule, you must accept the next Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which will be released at the end of January. It seems that all the games coming from Activision (or at least those with a multiplayer component) will also require two phases. At the moment it is not certain if a similar rule that differentiates existing and new will also work in the case of Call of Duty.

Here, however, the gaming community is paradoxically a little more accustomed, or specifically, in the PC version of the Warzone battle royale mode, the two-factor oven with the help of a telephone network is a must from 2020. However, this it only applies to those who play in free-to-play mode.

Blizzard did not stay true to the picture of the situation. He’s currently trying to fix the situation at least as far as the Overwatch 2 game server is concerned, but it looks like you’ll need to debug the game for some time. The current server failure was caused by a DDoS stream, but the problems persist.
