The New York Times has just released a report on Meta and Zuckerberg’s new ambitions ahead of the Meta Connect 2022 event. In this event, Meta is expected to launch its brand new virtual reality (VR) headset.
The New York Times shared some inside information on the performance of Meta’s metaverse activity, which received a cold reception from employees. Call him John Carmack, the former CTO of Oculus, the company Facebook acquired in 2014.

In a podcast interview a few months ago, Carmack admitted it was a “stomach ache” to see Meta spend a lot of money on his metaverse business. Last year, Meta’s AR and VR divisions lost $ 10 billion.
It doesn’t stop there, from a survey conducted by Blind involving 1,000 Meta employees, only 58% of respondents said they understood Zuckerberg’s metaverse ambitions.
Additionally, the New York Times also reported that Meta employees were asked to conduct team meetings using the app metaverse World Horizon. But many Meta employees don’t have a VR headset or haven’t activated it yet, so many rush to buy a VR headset before the manager finds out.
Metaverse Vice President at Meta Vishal Shah also once expressed his disappointment in an internal discussion forum that many Meta employees are not using the Horizon Worlds application, as quoted by Mashable, on Tuesday (11/10/2022).
Many Meta employees also complain about the high employee turnover rate and changes in employee training as a result of Zuckerberg’s changing priorities.
Several Meta employees have also called the company’s metaverse project “MMH” or “making Mark happy,” a reference to Zuckerberg’s personal ambition to develop the metaverse world.
Although his metaverse ambitions are constantly criticized from within and without, Half it doesn’t look like it will change the course of the company anytime soon. They will launch the brand new and advanced Quest Pro VR headset.
Additionally, the Horizon Worlds app is continually being enriched with new features to help creators earn money. This metaverse app already has 300,000 users as of February 2022.
