Entering the final month of election season, registered Republicans lead Democrats by just over a percentage point, according to data from state voters. The three most affected counties, Lee, Charlotte and Collier, have a total of 923,000 registered voters, 6.4 percent of the 14.4 million people in the state who registered to vote in November. Of those registered, nearly half are Republicans (429,000) and only 24% (220,000) are Democrats. The remaining 28% (260,000) are not affiliated with any party.
