But on Saturday, June 8, he took the stage at Comic Con in a big hug with fellow actor Christopher Lloyd, Dr. Emmett Brown’s rep, as his anger was overcome by Marty’s unfortunate adventure with the travel ace.
After a standing ovation, which brought tears to their eyes, both actors sat down on the sofa and answered questions from fans. Michael J. Fox talked here, among other things, about the collaboration with Lloyd.
It was fantastic, incredibly free. It was clear to me that I had to be careful and my ass, or else this guy would fall off the board, Fox said.
The original idiot Marty McFly was played by Eric Stoltz, known for example from the films Mask, Rob Roy or Pulp Fiction. It first took off with him, but then director Robert Zemeckis, supported by many fans, decided it wasn’t a good choice.
He was replaced by Michael J. Fox, which turned out to be a great idea. Lloyd thought so too, who told Comic Con that working with Michael was magical, even though they had never met at work before. We agreed, there was an instant chemistry between them, Christopher Lloyd, 48, was born shortly after.
The meeting also attracted the attention of fans on social media. When we were around in 1985, Marty McFly was the go-to guy. He is the coolest teen in film history and seeing him hug Christopher Lloyd years later was just beautiful, he tweeted one.
