“I would like to thank the parish of Bad Holzhausen and Pastor Steffen Bäcker for their good cooperation and for allowing us to use the church,” said director Anja Vehling in her welcome address. At the opening, Naemi Penner, who switched from violin to piano only six months ago, presented the different “major and minor” timbres in a small piece by Frits Emonts, after which the stage belonged to Johanna Hespe’s group of guitars.
Seven students (Hannah Kleine-Beek, Joana Schulz, Lucas Schulz, André Müller, Nathan Penner, Lilian Marsal and Maximilian Wolf) played a “Greek melody” and the famous hit “Bella Ciao”. Meanwhile, Lara Mende performed with “Käpt’n Blues Bär” and “Parting Glass” on recorder, for her it was her first audition in front of a larger audience. Jolanda Blomenkamp (saxophone) and Mila Neufeld (piano), on the other hand, already have experience on stage, but a joint performance was also a first for the two girls. “Jolanda and Mila always have lessons one after the other and so it made sense for them to work on something together,” explained their teacher Anja Vehling. First they confidently mastered their piece “Horse Race” by Gilles Martin, then Mila performed as a soloist with a “Wilde Ritt” by Anna Terzibaschitsch.
The last part of the program was re-designed by Johanna Hespe’s guitar students. However, this time Fiete Wengerowski had chosen a song and presented the “Wellermann Song” accompanied by her teacher, then the guitar group followed an old Israeli melody (“Nigun Atik”). In addition to the acoustic guitar, the Preußisch Oldendorf music school also teaches the electric guitar, so Maximilian Wolf played a “bass line” and two popular songs from Serbia and Macedonia, while Lucas Schulz played the title melody of “Star Wars “.
Before the guitarists let the evening end with the Ukrainian national anthem, the director thanked everyone involved for their commitment: “Public appearances and small concerts are very important parts of the music school’s work. Students can gain stage experience and show themselves to a wider audience, and auditions also increase motivation. And last but not least, we would like to enrich the musical life in Preussisch Oldendorf and present our institution to a wider audience ”.
Parents, grandparents and siblings were visibly pleased with the performances and once again applauded the young musicians at the end of the concert. The music school would increasingly like to give children and parents from the surrounding villages the opportunity to attend lessons near where they live and offers piano lessons in the “Haus des Gastes” in Bad Holzhausen after the autumn holidays. New cello colleague Marlene Boehm will also hold her lessons in Bad Holzhausen as soon as enough students are registered.
