An elderly family is in danger of life after a robbery in the village of Vetren, Stara Zagora. On the night of October 10, 29-year-old MA broke into their home through the bathroom window while the two were sleeping.
The man hit them several times in the head and body with a chair, asking them to hand over their money. The victims – a 71-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman – told him they had no money, after which MA took their cell phones and ran away.
The elderly family was admitted to a hospital in Stara Zagora. After a medical examination, it emerged that the man was in serious condition, with a brain injury, and is currently stabilized.
After a complaint was filed with the police, MA was arrested. He must be brought as a defendant and detained for up to 72 hours by decree of a supervising prosecutor.
For a robbery committed accompanied by moderate personal injury, the law provides for the penalty of “imprisonment” from 5 to 15 years and the court can also impose the confiscation of up to half of the offender’s assets. MA was previously convicted of the same act.
The district attorney’s office – Stara Zagora is about to file a petition with the court to take a custody measure against him.
