Mosjøen, Injuries | Big rescue operation after one person in Vefsna

Large police, fire and ambulance forces are in full swing along Vefsna in the Vefsnaparken area. According to operations manager Mari Lillestø of the Nordland police, this is a rescue operation.

– The crews on site worked to get a person out of the water, which they managed to do. Life-saving first aid is underway on site, says Lillestø.

– Do you know anything about the cause of the accident?

– It’s too early to tell, but we can’t rule out a personal tragedy, says Lillestø.

Operations leader Jørn Ove Jacobsen tells the Helgelendingen reporter on the spot that police received a report from a person in the river and moved. When they arrived, other emergency services were on the spot and had captured the person in question.

– Life-saving first aid was started on the spot, but the area was too steep to carry the person on a stretcher. The fire brigade was then requisitioned and the affected person was transported to the hotel garden where the medical staff was waiting, Jacobsen says.

The person who was found in the river was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
