The teams of the Neonatology ward are mobilizing as part of the World Breastfeeding Week (SMAM) which takes place from 17 to 21 October.
A booth will be set up in the lobby of the Sainte Musse hospital to talk about breastfeeding and promote the donation of milk.
This booth will be animated by Dr. Christelle Leymarie and staff from the Department of Neonatal and Maternity Medicine who have been trained in breastfeeding.
The goal is to highlight the work done in maternity and neonatology to help and guide mothers in their breastfeeding project. This guidance is all the more necessary in neonatology where mothers find themselves with a premature and / or sick infant.
The teams want to raise awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding and promote milk donation.
In fact, this breast milk is as important as technical assistance for frail infants admitted to neonatology.
The team accompanies several hundred mothers every year as the maternity ward receives 3,300 births annually and the neonatal medicine ward 1,000 babies annually.
